The World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships (WIDPSC) is an annual international high-school debating and public speaking event held since 1988, bringing together students from private and international schools in over 20 countries around the world. Each year WIDPSC is hosted in a different country — in recent years South Africa, Australia, Malaysia and the UK. In 2027, we are excited to bring WIDPSC to China.
Shanghai, China
WIDPSC 2027 will be held in Shanghai — one of the world’s most vibrant cities. A visit to Shanghai showcases China’s tradition and modernity in a single destination. Our participants will take part in cultural and sightseeing activities to make the most of their time here.

NACIS Shanghai
We are delighted to partner with NACIS Shanghai, an international school in the Minhang district of Shanghai with impeccable modern facilities.
Evergreen Homeland
Participants will be housed in Evergreen Homeland — a leafy accommodation complex just ten minutes from our host school. Students, coaches and parents will all reside in newly completed serviced apartment-style suites.
Four disciplines
At WIDPSC, students compete across four speech and debate disciplines.
Debating
Parliamentary Debate, 2 vs 2.
Interpretive Reading
Reading a passage from a poem, short story or novel.
Impromptu Speaking
Speaking on a random topic with minimal preparation time.
Persuasive or After Dinner Speaking
A serious or humorous prepared speech on a topic of the student's choosing.
